A crown restores a single compromised tooth by covering the remaining tooth structure with gold and/or porcelain. Crowns can also serve an aesthetic purpose, by covering a discolored or misaligned tooth and restoring its ideal color and shape.
A fixed bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by connecting a false tooth between two restored natural teeth. The natural teeth are prepared for crowns and the false tooth (pontic) is fused and bridged between crowns, filling the gap of the missing tooth.
These procedures require two or more office visits.
